Off Work in November

In 2021, I collaborated with Shun, DJ and Sumo, graphic designer to establish a temporary music group – 33WLC. Off Work Everyday is one of Shun’s Citypop music series, in which each digital album cover was illustrated by me.

This series is made up of eight digital albums - seven days of a week plus one bonus day. The concept of illustration is about two parallel universes blending with each other. The background visual is a real landscape in Japan while the panel one unveils a related fleeting moment. The existence of some subtle elements is designed to connect these two visuals. Drawing these scenes where I ever visited brings out the nostalgia for Japan. I simply hope, through this series, everyone can enjoy the art and music. Keep chill, embrace happiness and live without anxiety or insomnia.

In 2022, I initiated a new series under “Off Work” called Off Work Every Month.

I collaborate with 12 friends who live in 12 different cities of China. They will recommend one favorite corner of their cities individually.

The monthly series continues the style and concept of the week, with the difference being that each month features a different Chinese cityscape as the main picture, while the small box showcases a favorite activity of a particular era, presented in animation form.

The illustration displays the place he/she loves while the animation records the tiny trivial moment they often experienced in the past one year.

If you do not have a a chance to travel around China, follow us to see the snowy palace, drink a cup of tea in the park, eat an omelet at cafe, feel the ocean wave at sunset, breathe the salty air and… hold the love.
